Election Commission Unveils Schedule for House of Representatives Election
Voting set for Falgun 21; campaign period to run from Falgun 3 to 18

Kathmandu: The Election Commission (EC) has released the official schedule for the House of Representatives elections, which are set to take place on Falgun 21. The schedule was approved at a meeting of the Commission on Monday.
With the slogan “Free and Fair Election: Pride of the Nation,” the Commission announced that all election-related activities will be conducted according to the set timetable.
Party Registration and Nomination Process
According to Commission Spokesperson and Joint Secretary Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, political parties wishing to participate in the elections can register between Mangsir 1 and 10.
The office of the election officer for the proportional representation system will begin operations on Mangsir 15, with the submission of closed lists scheduled for Poush 18 and 19. Similarly, the office for the first-past-the-post (FPTP) or directly elected system will be established from Magh 2.
Campaign and Voting Schedule
The official election campaign period will run from Falgun 3 to 18, after which a silent period will come into effect.
Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Falgun 21, and vote counting for both the proportional and FPTP systems will begin immediately after polling concludes.
Commission Guidelines for Participation
The Commission has clarified that only political parties already registered with the EC can re-register for election purposes.
Parties wishing to contest must obtain a political party registration certificate by Kartik 30, 2082 BS.
The Commission has also committed to maintaining continuous coordination and consultation with stakeholders and political parties throughout the election process to ensure transparency and credibility.
